84-year-old Hopkins is still acting in films and amazes fans with dynamic dances. But it is known that a cloudless old age was not easy for him: the actor has been struggling with alcоhol addiction for almost half his life.
So, on the eve of the new year, he published a congratulation on his personal blog, in which he mentioned the important ability to take responsibility for his life.
After all, it was precisely this that saved Hopkins when it seemed that addiction was winning.
In an address to fans, Hopkins boasted that he had been keeping a vow of sobriety for 47 years!
At the same time, the actor noted that at the most critical moment, alcоhol took possession of him. And he was seriously thinking about the approaching end.
“I am an alcоholic and I know that there are many people among you who are now struggling with this addiction. I want to tell you, be kind to yourself, be proud of yourself. I understand what you are going through now. 47 years ago, I was in complete despair, until I admitted that something was wrong with me. I realized that my severe physical and mental condition is alcоholism,” admitted the actor.
In a motivational post, Hopkins urged people with similar problems to value themselves and not give up.
