These past few days, my aunt was visiting me, and when she saw the state of my pans and pots, she was in total shock! 😲 Without wasting a second, she showed me an incredible trick to remove soot and restore their original shine. 😅 Honestly, I would never have believed it could be this easy! You’re going to love her secret ⬇️⬇️.
A layer of burnt grease doesn’t just make your kitchenware look bad; it also makes them harder to use. The worst part? This kind of stubborn residue is extremely difficult to get rid of… unless you know the right method! Fortunately, my aunt revealed a remarkably effective technique, and I’m going to share it with you.
What You’ll Need:
- A screwdriver
- Ammonia (or household alcohol)
- Strong, airtight plastic bags (such as garbage bags)
- A string or cord
- A dish sponge
- A basin of water
⚠️ Important precaution: Ammonia has a very strong smell and can be irritating. Make sure to wear gloves and a protective mask, and always work in a well-ventilated area.
Preparation Before Cleaning
If your pan has a plastic handle, start by removing it with a screwdriver. The handle should be cleaned separately with a sponge (possibly a metal one), some dish soap, and hot water.
For the rest of the pan, we’re going to use a simple but ultra-effective method. Take two or three strong, airtight plastic bags and insert them into each other to prevent any leaks.
The Magic Method
- Place the pan inside the prepared plastic bags.
- Lay the bags on a flat surface and push out any excess air.
- Pour 50 to 100 ml of ammonia directly onto the pan.
- Seal the bags tightly and tie them securely with a string.
Effortless Cleaning
Once you’ve ensured everything is sealed properly, gently shake the bag so the ammonia spreads evenly. Then, let it sit on a balcony or in a well-ventilated area for 12 hours.
After this time, carefully open the bags and remove the pan. You’ll see that the burnt grease has softened and comes off easily. All you need to do is wipe it down with a sponge and hot water, and your pan will be sparkling clean—just like new!
