I’ve discovered a simple yet brilliant trick that turns even a basic detergent into an ultra-effective cleaner. Say goodbye to stubborn stains and dull laundry!
👇 The secret is in the first comment! 💬
All laundry detergents have the same goal, but some make clothes perfectly clean, remove stains, and revive colors, while others only provide a surface clean.
Most of the time, the best results come from expensive detergents, and it’s not just about advertising.
If you check the composition of detergents with whitening or color-enhancing effects, you’ll find ammonium hydroxide among the ingredients.
This is its dry form, but in liquid form, you can buy it at a pharmacy—it’s simply ammonia.
Its smell is strong, but it’s not just useful for reviving someone who has fainted—it can also work wonders for laundry.
Testing the dry and liquid versions
I wanted to try this trick on slightly yellowed white laundry. I prepared a basin with 10 liters of warm water and 2 tablespoons of ammonia.
I let it soak for an hour. After rinsing, the stains were gone, and the fabric was white again, with no trace of yellowing.
How to add it to the washing machine?
If you don’t want to wash by hand, simply add the ammonia directly to the washing machine.
I dilute it in a bit of water before pouring it over the laundry in the drum, then start a regular cycle.
For a 4 kg load, I use 4 tablespoons of ammonia. Do not pour it into the detergent compartment—the alcohol evaporates too quickly, reducing its effectiveness.
Also, don’t apply it directly to clothes, as it might be absorbed by only one piece and won’t distribute evenly.
