Egg cartons can be used for many purposes around the house đ .
You would never guess what this carton could be used for! đ˛ I was surprised myself when I discovered this tip đ¤Ż. I noticed it at a friend’s house, and I must say it was the most creative thing Iâve seen in a long time đ¨. âĄď¸ Find out all the details here đđđ
Itâs been almost two years since we moved into our house, and shortly after, a discount store from a big chain opened near us. I wonât mention its name to avoid advertising. In this store, they sell eggs not only by the 10-pack but also in a 30-egg tray.
Since we regularly buy these large quantities of eggs, a number of cartons piled up this winter. I was about to throw them away, but my husband stopped me. He asked, “And the garden, what about that? These cartons might come in handy there.”
My husband’s tips
In the end, my husband was right. Weâve already used these cartons to plant vegetables. They serve as templates. We place them directly on the soil, and they create small indentations where we can place the seeds. Super convenient, I recommend trying it!
Another use we found is for growing radishes in the cartons. Simply cut the bottom of each compartment, push the carton into the soil, and plant the seeds inside. Then, cover everything with soil.
Lastly, we also use the cartons under the currant and raspberry bushes to prevent grass from growing there and to keep the fruit off the ground. If you cut the carton into pieces, you can also place them under the strawberries. This way, the fruit doesnât touch the ground, wonât rot, and ants wonât be able to eat them.
A tip from a friend
After trying all these gardening ideas, we still had some cartons left. After all, we hadnât stopped buying eggs at the start of the summer. So, what else could we do with these cartons? If we had a stove, I would probably have burned them to start a fire. But we donât⌠However, we do have a barbecue! And then, the brilliant idea came to me: use the cartons as kindling for the barbecue! Of course, you need to cut them into small pieces and place them under the charcoal in different spots. But this carton burns really well!
Another practical tip
This tip comes from a friend of mine, who showed me how he always keeps a few dozen egg cartons in his hallway. On rainy days, he takes them out and simply places them on the floor⌠under the shoes, so that the dirt from the street falls into the cartons.
It really works! And whatâs even better is that you can fold them up and throw them away without feeling guilty. It saves you time and energy because you donât have to wash the shoes or mop the floor. Itâs a tip that will be especially useful in the winter with all the mud! Definitely worth remembering!
My experience with this tip
Itâs been a few weeks now that Iâve been using these cartons in the hallway too. I simply place the shoes on them and let the excess moisture soak up.
By the way, this tip also works with freshly washed shoes: instead of placing them on the radiator and making everything wet, just put a few cartons under the shoes to absorb the moisture as they dry.
So, what do you think of this tip from my friend? Do you use similar tricks? Tell us in the comments!
