They seemed doomed, marked by time, forgotten in a corner… 🤔 Yet, throwing them away was out of the question; they were still solid, full of memories 💖. But how could I give them a new style? How could I turn these attic survivors into statement pieces in the house? Hours of work, choices to make, a careful eye on every detail… And above all, a promise kept. Today, they’ve found a new life.

They didn’t seem like much, these chairs inherited from my grandmother. The wood was dull, the fabric tired, the seat worn out. Yet, their structure was sturdy. All they needed was a fresh touch to transform them.

Step one: disassembly. With the seat removed, I tackled the wood. Sanding, degreasing, filling in small imperfections, then applying a primer to prepare the surface. The choice of paint came naturally: a semi-matte white alkyd, to bring a modern and bright touch.

Meanwhile, Félix, my loyal feline, kept an eye on things. Or rather, he tested the sturdiness of the chairs, sitting on them whenever possible, as if to give his approval with each step.

Next, the seat. Goodbye to the tired foam, and hello to firm poliiizol. A lovely black and white floral fabric for an elegant contrast… and voilà, the chairs are reborn! A quick twist of the screwdriver to put everything back in place, a final satisfied look, and mission accomplished.

And Félix in all this? Well, as a good inspector of completed work, he quickly tested the comfort of the new seats. Verdict? He immediately adopted the chairs… and settled in for a well-deserved nap.

As it turns out, a little paint, a pretty fabric, and a touch of patience are all it takes to turn old furniture into unique pieces. And who knows, maybe your cat will approve of your next project too!
