I was surprised to see that my mother never threw away egg cartons 😲 At first, I thought she kept them out of habit, but then I discovered that she used them for something incredibly useful around the house! 😱🤯 I reveal everything in the article ⬇️
My mother is a true home fairy and a creativity expert. She always finds a way to reuse objects that others would throw away, transforming them into practical and unique items for the home.
Recently, I noticed that she never discarded empty egg cartons. It turns out they are put to clever use! One of her favorite methods: converting them into seed trays.
Egg cartons are perfect for growing young plants because of their shape. They hold soil efficiently, allow air circulation, and promote root development.
She also uses this technique to create precise holes when planting radishes or other small crops. By pressing the carton into the soil, she forms evenly spaced holes, making the planting process easier and more organized.
But that’s not all! Cardboard egg cartons can also be used as an original creative material.
To do this, she cuts the carton into small pieces, soaks them in hot water, and lets them sit for about 30 minutes. Once cooled, she blends the mixture until it forms a smooth paste.
Then, she heats this mixture for another 15 minutes, squeezes out the excess liquid, and moves on to the next step.
She mixes glue with water (in a 2:1 ratio) in a separate container, adds a bit of modeling clay, then combines it with the prepared carton paste. Once thoroughly kneaded, it turns into a perfect material for crafts.
With this mass, she creates all kinds of decorative pieces for the house and garden: figurines, picture frames, decorative panels, and even small pots for her planters.
Instead of seeing these cartons as trash, my mom gives them a second life by transforming them into something beautiful and useful. With a bit of imagination and a desire to create, anything can be reinvented!
