For my 60th birthday, I organized a big dinner at a restaurant. I invited all my family members. We danced, laughed, and celebrated. But at the end of the evening, my day was completely ruined because of a stupid joke by my daughter-in-law. šŸ˜¢

I was so furious with her and my son because of this “joke” that I kicked them out of my house the next day. Here’s my sad story, which I share in the first commentšŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡.

On my sixtieth birthday, I decided to organize a big dinner at a restaurant. Such a birthday is a big celebration, and I chose to invite my entire extended family.

That evening, there was a very joyful atmosphere in the restaurant: we all danced, laughed, and enjoyed catching up with our loved ones.

However, everything suddenly changed when my daughter-in-lawā€™s phone went missing. In a panic, she came up to me.

“Have you seen my phone? It was here just a while ago.”

I grabbed my own phone and quickly dialed her number. Instead of a classic ringtone, I heard an unusual sound, like a herd of cows passing in front of the restaurant.

It was her phone. The sound was coming from her phone. Olena rushed off to the restroom, and her phone had fallen to the ground under the table.

As I picked it up, I accidentally noticed the words displayed on the screen: “Cow” and a picture of me. Those words hurt me deeply. I tried to convince myself it was just a joke. But why on my birthday? Why in this way?

My relationship with my daughter-in-law had always been quite ordinary. I tried to bond with her: I gave her gifts, I gave her a gold ring for her birthday, and I gave them my second apartment after their wedding.

I thought I was doing everything possible to earn their love and trust. But apparently, it wasnā€™t enough.

It wasnā€™t easy to tell my son about this. My throat tightened as I held back, but I finally decided to tell him the truth about what I had just seen.
“My son, I saw something on her phone…”

“Mom, I was joking! Stop it. Youā€™re overreacting!” she interrupted me.
“You have no sense of humor.”

She snatched the phone out of my hands, and I stood there, stunned, holding back tears. I smiled the whole evening, but inside, I felt hurt and cold. At some point, I went to the restroom and broke down crying. Why underestimate years of care and kindness like this?

The next morning, I couldnā€™t bear to stay silent any longer. I took a taxi and went to their place.

“Good morning, Mom! You came without warning?” my son asked, surprised.

I replied sternly: “I need a lot of space, because Iā€™m doing some research.

“I need a lot of space, since Iā€™m a fat cow, isnā€™t that right?” I added bitterly.
“Why are you saying this, Mom?”

“You have one week to pack up and move out of my house. I donā€™t ever want to see you or your wife again.”

My tone was firm, but behind my voice, I hid my sobs. Two days later, they left the house.

Since then, the whole family has blamed me for kicking them out. Yet, I still canā€™t forgive them for what they did.
