When she left to visit her mother, he decided to take on a rather crazy project: renovating their tiny 5 m² kitchen—all by himself. 👩❤️👨😍 When she came back, she was completely stunned by the spectacular transformation her husband had accomplished. 🏡🔥 You won’t believe the result of this hard work! Discover all the details of this incredible renovation in this article! ⬇️
At first, the kitchen was in quite a poor state, but I was determined to change that. So, I decided to film every step of the process to relive this unique experience later.
The first step was to dismantle everything, keeping only the sink and the gas stove since we still needed to cook during the renovation. The plastic window was already installed, which made things easier.
We also immediately replaced the heating pipes and radiators throughout the apartment to avoid redoing anything later. Fortunately, being a plumber, I was able to save on costs, only paying for the radiators and valves. A welder colleague even lent me a hand with some parts of the work.
One of the first things I noticed was that the ventilation window was too low. So, I decided to make a hole next to the pipe to fix the problem. After installing the stretch ceiling, adjusting the range hood vent required a bit more effort, but now everything is perfectly aligned.
The gas meter was installed behind the fridge to keep it easily accessible. Where you now see a plasterboard panel, there was originally a door leading to the bathroom. Luckily, the previous owners had already bricked up that wall, and the drywall made it easier and more affordable to even it out instead of using traditional masonry work.
My partner loves green, so it was only natural for us to choose this color for the kitchen. When sunlight streams through the window, the shade adds brightness and warmth to the space.
The space between the stove and the sink is very tight—only 5 cm—but it’s not a problem. The countertop on the left is 45 cm wide and expands to 60 cm after the corner, providing more room for cooking.
The curtains were replaced with slatted blinds, freeing up the windowsill and adding a modern touch to the space.
The glass doors of the kitchen cabinets are decorated with a star design, adding a unique touch.
In this picture, you can see that the gas meter is placed behind the fridge, and the pipe is now hidden by the cabinets. A heating pipe runs along the ceiling—a more aesthetic solution since we raised it during the pipe replacement to make room for the false ceiling.
The false ceiling is now in place, neatly concealing the pipe. We’re planning to install a rail with hanging shelves and hooks to store spatulas and other kitchen utensils.
I also installed under-cabinet lighting. I bought a standard roll of LED strip and a diffuser, stuck the strip inside the diffuser, then attached everything using double-sided tape. I then connected it to a switch. The lights run on 220V but require a special power supply to function properly. I handled everything myself, making sure to choose a power supply suited to the LED strip’s length to ensure sufficient brightness.
I didn’t need multicolored LED strips, so I opted for simple white lights, perfect for creating a cozy ambiance in this small kitchen.
Conclusion:
This renovation project, though modest in terms of space, was a true adventure—combining ingenuity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. It proves that with some effort and a lot of determination, even the smallest spaces can be transformed into pleasant living areas. If you dream of giving your kitchen a new life, why not take on the challenge yourself?
