Turning 29 m² into a true one-bedroom apartment seems impossible, but… this renovation proves otherwise! 🔄🏡 Thanks to a clever design, this small space has become both stylish and functional 😍. You have to see it to believe it – check out the photos in the article ⬇️
From Old to New: It All Started with a Bold Bet
Originally built in 1964, this apartment was just a single room in terrible condition. But that didn’t scare Katie!
With no experience in design or renovation, she decided to do everything herself, without hiring an interior designer. A bold choice that not only allowed her to create the apartment of her dreams but also saved her a considerable amount of money.
How to Fit Everything Into a Small Space?
To understand the ingenuity of this transformation, just take a look at the new floor plan.
The main idea was to merge the kitchen and living room while still defining a separate sleeping area. On just 29 m², Katie managed to include:
A real living room
A cozy sleeping space
A small desk – essential since she sometimes works from home
Smart Ideas to Optimize Space
To give the flat a more spacious and light-filled feel, Katie removed the wall between the kitchen and the living room. She also changed part of the wall from the kitchen to the bath, using glass blocks to let in the natural light.
In the kitchen, the unique backsplash and original range hood immediately catch the eye. To add character, Katie ordered tiles with various patterns. She also painted one wall of the living room blue, echoing the kitchen tiles and creating a harmonious transition between spaces.
The sleeping area is hidden behind sliding glass doors. A surprising choice, but one that saves space. Despite the small size, Katie managed to fit a TV and several shelves for storing books.
The bathroom also underwent a radical transformation. Katie replaced the bathtub with a more compact shower and used glass bricks to let natural light in from the kitchen.
A Successful Challenge!
This layout may not be for everyone, but its advantages are undeniable. Katie successfully combined creativity and practicality, making the apartment both functional and full of charm. Her attention to detail, like the custom tiles in the kitchen, adds a unique and cozy touch.
This renovation proves that even a small apartment can be modern, comfortable, and optimized!
