๐จ Pimpe your fridge: turn it into the star of your kitchen! Turning an old fridge into a glamorous work of art? โจ That’s exactly what my brother managed to do! Inspired by retro fridges ๐ง with their irresistibly stylish look but on a tight budget ๐ธ, we opted for an accessible DIY solution ๐ ๏ธ: a homemade makeover. With a bit of paint ๐จ and a lot of creativity ๐, our old fridge became almost as cool as a Smeg. Our friends were so impressed that they envied us ๐ and wanted to renovate theirs too! ๐ช (Check the link to see the renovation and the before/after in the article below). ๐
Why transform your fridge?
In a renovation, every detail matters, and our fridge was meant to be the king of the kitchen. Its dull gray cabinet design didnโt match what we were looking for. So, instead of investing in a pricey retro model, we decided to modernize it.
The result of our efforts? An original fridge, transformed into a standout piece that doesnโt go unnoticed.
Required resources:
โ Fifteen euros in total โ Two pots of acrylic paint (shade “Malachite Montana Gold”) โ A can of varnish โ Craft tape โ Newspaper
Steps to follow:
Preparation: Make sure the fridge is empty and clean. Remove any removable parts. Prep work: Cover the areas you donโt want to paint with tape and newspaper. Apply paint: Apply two coats of paint. Let dry between coats. Finish: Add a new layer of varnish for a smooth and solid surface. Reassemble: Once the varnish is dry, put the painted parts back together.
Tips to remember:
Donโt paint the parts that contact the door seals! If necessary, scrape the paint off these areas.
The result: Our fridge, now malachite green, is an elegant and original piece in our kitchen. This DIY project is both easy and inexpensive, turning your appliances into real works of art.
Now itโs your turn! Why not give your fridge a fresh new life?
