🚪An ancient piece of furniture became a modern piece of furniture! 😮👏
Trash collection day. Not for this piece of furniture.🪑🫣
😱🤫Discover how this YouTuber preserved trash from the sidewalk and transformed it into an up-to-date and nice furniture. 😍👇
Andy, from the YouTube channel advanced alternators, is a restorer based in Canada who saves broken furniture found during trash collection day and gives it a five-star renovation.
Every piece has potential, and the sideboard he found on the street was no exception.
He first started by removing the doors, latches, and screws, then began sanding everything down.
All the nail or screw holes were filled with putty. Some parts were missing and damaged. He realized that the front doors were very old, and it was impossible to restore.
After attentively sketching the lines, Andy added smooth grooves into the wood.
By drawing diagonal lines in both directions, he was able to create a diamond pattern.
So far, everything seemed difficult, but it wasn’t.
After painting everything with chalk paint, which serves as an excellent primer, he used latex paint to give the piece of furniture a glossy finish.
After the paint drying, he noticed dust and dirt on the surface.
Even after the painting, the material, these problems remained.
He then proceeded with sanding using a coarse grit and followed up with a finer grit.
Wet sanding helped remove the bubbles without damaging the surface too much.
And what was the final result? The sideboard is as shiny as a mirror, and the all-black finish gives the piece a dramatic and angular look.
The mid-century modern-inspired legs, salvaged from another piece of furniture, perfectly complement the geometric patterns on the front.
The gold handles complete this modern and sleek look.
