The day after I discovered my husband was having an affair with one of his coworkers, he looked at me coldly and said:
“I’m taking the dog. You keep the kid.”

The judge gently invited Mark to continue speaking.
The little boy stood up, hugged his teddy bear tightly against his chest, and looked at his father for a few seconds before he began.
“I’m happy Mom chose me… because Dad loves our dog more than he loves me.”
A deep silence filled the courtroom.
Then he continued:
“Yesterday, Dad sent me a message. He said, ‘If the judge asks who you want to live with, you’ll say you want to stay with your mother… because you and your mother are the biggest mistake of my life. I don’t want anything to do with either of you anymore.’”

Mark lowered his eyes for a moment before speaking again.
