The stovetop is an essential part of every kitchen since that’s where we prepare our meals. So it’s important to keep it clean and well-maintained.
But sometimes, burners get so dirty that it becomes really difficult to clean them properly. Recently, I came across a surprisingly simple trick that makes even the dirtiest burners shine. Today, I’m going to tell you how I manage to clean them perfectly in just 7 minutes.
It all starts with a citric acid bath. Just place the burners in a deep enough basin, then heat about 1.5 liters of water in a kettle.
As soon as the water boils, pour in a small packet of citric acid. The water will instantly foam and bubble (and as a bonus, it’ll also clean the inside of your kettle). Then, pour this lemony water into the basin with the burners and let it sit for 5 minutes.
In the meantime, prepare a homemade cleaning paste. Nothing complicated — in a small glass bowl, mix a few ingredients you’ll easily find in any kitchen.
Take a packet of dry yeast and add a tablespoon of toothpaste. Any brand will do, even the cheapest one.
It’s best to wear gloves because the mixture is quite powerful.
Next, take out each burner and, using the abrasive side of a sponge, scrub the dirty areas. Thanks to the pre-soaking, the grime comes off easily, and the paste perfectly completes the cleaning.
In just 7 minutes, everything’s clean and shiny. All that’s left is to rinse the burners under clear water and proudly put them back on the stove.
