Recently, a young woman purchased this apartment in poor condition. The price was very attractive, which convinced her not to give up on the purchase, despite the deplorable state of the property.
Instead of accepting it, the new owner gathered a little more savings and decided to completely renovate the apartment, while dividing the main room into two. Curious to see the result? Let’s discover this transformation together!
Before the Renovation
In the past, the interior was so dilapidated that it would have been difficult to live in, even for an adult man, so imagine for a young woman.
Mold stains covered the walls, which were literally crumbling. In the kitchen and bathroom, the tiles were threatening to fall off at any moment.
I’ve already mentioned in a previous article the renovation of a loft-style kitchen, proving that any home can become livable with the right approach.
Here, the kitchen required a complete overhaul: from the wall coverings to the appliances, including the windows and the backsplash. There were no proper kitchen units or a modern oven with a cooking hob. The bathroom wasn’t in better shape either.
This combined space felt like a public facility, especially because of the exposed pipes and the brown-beige tiles. The crooked wall tiles didn’t add anything to the space, except an even more neglected appearance.
In the main room, another significant problem arose: a prominent beam that took up a large part of the space.
After the Renovation
The bathroom was the hardest room to remodel due to its small size (1.5 m x 1.9 m). To optimize the space, the washing machine was placed under the sink, freeing up precious surface area.
Marble-effect ceramic tiles were installed on the floor and walls, a modern towel radiator replaced the old one, and the storage areas were reorganized. All the sanitary equipment was replaced, and the pipes were hidden inside the walls for a clean look.
In the entrance, the door leading to the kitchen was removed, and a corner of the sanitary block was cut to avoid premature wear of the covering.
The space under the beam was cleverly used to integrate a large wardrobe, while the walls, originally covered with wallpaper, were repainted grey for better durability.
In the kitchen, the sink was moved under the window, removing the old ledge. A glass backsplash replaced the traditional tiles.
The wall between the kitchen and the main room was knocked down to create a more functional dining space. A sliding door system was installed between the living room and the kitchen for a flexible separation.
The balcony was integrated into the living room and converted into a cozy relaxation area.
Finally, the main room was divided by a partition wall to create a real bedroom. The space under the beam was optimized with a large built-in storage unit.
