The horse simply did not want to let them walk away.
Since dawn, the two photographers had been exploring the forest, capturing images of wildlife. A thick mist still covered the trees, the ground was soaked from the previous night’s rain, and an unusual silence filled the air, broken only by the occasional sound of birds singing.
As they were about to return to their car, a magnificent black horse suddenly appeared in the middle of the trail.
It did not look wild.
Its coat was spotless, its hooves were perfectly cared for, but its behavior was strange. It paced back and forth, clearly agitated.
Every time the photographers tried to continue on their way, the horse stepped in front of them.
It showed no aggression.
It was not trying to run away either.
It was simply blocking their path.
Thinking it might have escaped from a nearby property, they tried to walk around it. But it was impossible.
Suddenly, the horse took a few steps deeper into the forest, then turned around and looked back at them.
As if it was asking them to follow.

The man carefully knelt down and slowly opened the backpack’s zipper.
His hand was shaking.
He expected to find a few personal belongings.

The two photographers exchanged a look.
They were now certain: the horse had led them there for a very specific reason.

While the rescue teams were on their way, the horse did not move.
It nervously circled around the fallen tree, whinnied from time to time, then kept staring at the same patch of bushes.

He was unconscious, but he was still breathing.
A thick branch was crushing his leg, completely preventing him from freeing himself.
His phone, completely destroyed, was lying beside him.
He had probably been waiting for help for hours.
The photographers rushed to his side.
They covered him with their jackets, gave him a little water, and kept talking to him to help him stay conscious until the rescuers arrived.
A few minutes later, sirens finally echoed through the forest.
The rescuers quickly took over and managed to free the young man from beneath the branch.
One of them later explained that without this quick intervention, he probably would not have survived the night. Hypothermia would have taken his life within a few hours.
While the rescuers cared for the injured man, the horse finally calmed down.
It slowly approached the young hiker, gently sniffed his hand, and lowered its head.
That was when the young man whispered weakly:

When its owner was injured, the horse had not run away.
It had wandered through the forest trails until it found people who could help.

A photograph was attached to the message.
It showed him smiling, standing in a sunlit field beside the same black horse.
