One day, an 11-year-old dog named Bella Boo stopped sleeping on her couch and instead preferred to lie down on the chest of her owner, Karena Kirk-Drain.
Despite the fact that the woman each time sent the pet to sleep in her place, she continued to persist and even began to whine if the owner drove her away.
Soon, the mysterious behavior of the Yorkshire terrier alerted Karen, and she decided to take the dog to the veterinarian.
The vets said Bella was fine, but after the trip to the clinic, she got even weirder.
The dog began not just to lie down on the owner’s chest, but to jump on it, causing severe discomfort.
“Bella started bouncing on me, and at some point I thought that because of her a bruise appeared on my chest, because it became very painful. I touched the painful place and found a huge bump,” Karen recalls.
Having found a bump, the woman went to the hospital, and the doctors said that she had breast cancer.
The disease began to spread to the lymph nodes, but timely therapy, which Karen underwent thanks to the sensitive and persistent Bella, helped her stop the development of the tumor.
“I never believed dogs could detect cancer before. But as soon as the tumor was removed, Bella began to sleep in her place again,” the woman confessed.
Now, Karen is urging all pet owners to pay attention to the strange behavior of their four-legged friends.
“If people see their dog or cat acting strangely, they need to think about it. We often underestimate animals. But they are amazing creatures.” Karen says.
