A miniature horse with no functioning hind legs can now move around thanks to a special custom-made wheelchair.
Turbo lives at the Road to Refuge shelter. This shelter houses animals that have been rescued from euthanasia. These animals receive the necessary medical and psychological help.
Mini horse Turbo was born with dislocated kneecaps. Because of this, he could only move hunched over and all his weight fell on his front legs.
However, Road to Refuge did everything possible to make his life easier.
The founder of the shelter, Megan Pereira, describes Turbo as a baby with a beautiful and fiery temper. An insane desire to live is read in his eyes. And when the employee first noticed this, they realized that they simply had to help him.
Walkin’ Pets, a company that makes devices for disabled animals, saw an Instagram post about Turbo.
They sent their employees to the shelter, where Turbo was fitted into his custom wheelchair. Not having time to fully fasten the wheelchair, Turbo began to joyfully run.
The staff almost cried when they saw how happy Turbo was.
The shelter says turbo has a long way to go in physical therapy and possible knee surgery. We wish this baby a speedy recovery!
