Recently, Tallulah Willis revealed her diagnosis of autism, which occurred as an adult. On March 15, 2024, she shared a video of herself as a child, with her father Bruce Willis, during a media event.
In the video, she interacts with her father playfully, patting his head and playing with his ears. In the video’s Instagram caption, she hinted at her autism in a subtle way. Although she has never explicitly mentioned her diagnosis before, she chose to reveal it this time around by responding to a comment under her post.
Tallulah explained that she discovered her autism recently, that summer, and that this revelation had a significant impact on her life. She received positive feedback, although some interpreted some of her actions as “stimming” behaviors, associated with autism according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Several viewers noticed Bruce Willis’ relaxed reaction in the video, expressing admiration for his patience and support towards his daughter. Some have even interpreted this interaction as a touching memory of a father with frontotemporal dementia.
Despite her fears of being perceived negatively, Tallulah previously shared her struggles with depression, anorexia nervosa, ADHD and borderline personality disorder in an article for Vogue.
She also expressed regret over her initial reaction to her father’s declining health and emphasized her commitment to her own recovery and continued support of her father.
Now that she is feeling better, she is considering how to make her father more comfortable and recognizes that recovery is an ongoing process.
