A large Bengal cat named Paul Newman has been coming to Merseyside Station on the Liverpool South Parkway for 10 years now.
The cat lives in a private house next to the station, but instead of walking around other people’s private yards, something draws him to the station.
The cat started coming here as a kitten.
Basically, he just sits or lies somewhere on a seat on the platform, avoiding the dangerous rails.
The cat quickly became a local celebrity.
Many people are sure that the cat sees them off or meets them and often stroke him and scratch him behind the ear.
The workers at Merseyside Station especially loved the cat and recently even gave him the honorary title of “Chief of Customer Relations”.
And when the cat gets tired of the extra attention, he goes to wander around the station or take a nap in less crowded corners.
Paul even has a Facebook page set up by the station staff and has over 3,000 followers there.
In addition to universal love and affection, Paul receives tons of toys from passengers and the station staff feeds him so well that the owners of the cat have long been accustomed to the fact that Paul comes home with a full belly.
