Get ready to fall in love with this beautiful rabbit-like animal, this adorable and rare creature that you have maybe never heard of.
Scientists know very little about these teddy-bear look-alike creatures.
The Ili Pika discovered conservationist Li Weidong in 1983 in northwestern China. It is called Ili Pika after the name of the area where it was first found.
These beautiful creatures live in holes at an altitude of 2,800m to 4,000m. They are so tiny, but so strong to overcome the cold weather.
Their food are Tian Shan mountains herbs.
Since they are found, the population decreased by 70%, probably due to global warming.
In 2014, the 60 years-old Li realizing that no one wants to help these cute creatures, made decision to undertake the research of Ili Pikas with his team. The team consisted of 20 volunteers.
Their task was to understand their numbers and diversity of species.
The members of this team called the creature “magic rabbit”.
The retired conservationist used his savings during the investigation. Unfortunately, the authority showed almost no interest.
These tiny creatures are in the verge of extinct. The authorities or some organization should undertake something to protect and study these wonderful animals, otherwise people can see them only in pictures.
