People’s wish lists include a variety of things: meeting your favorite celebrity, a trip to Paris, skydiving and much, much more.

Since childhood, Bertha Komor from Connecticut had an unusual but very sweet dream: she wanted to hold a penguin in her arms.

On Bertha’s 104th birthday, the staff at the Holiday Village Gate of Farmington decided to grant her wish and set her up with a penguin named Mr. Red Green.

The staff agreed with representatives of the local Mystic Aquarium to bring a special guest directly to the woman’s birthday.

Mr. Red Green was delivered in a special tank to help him stay safe and comfortable on the road.

When the penguin arrived at Bertha’s party, she and all her guests were overjoyed.

But everyone was even more surprised when Mystic Aquarium workers took out a black and white feathered guy from the aquarium and offered the leading lady to hold him in her arms.

The woman did not immediately believe that her dream was about to come true. She happily took the penguin in her arms and began to gently stroke his back and sides.

“I never thought this would actually happen” Bertha said.

On this special day, not only friends and employees of the nursing home were next to Bertha, but also her beloved daughter and granddaughter.

“I’m so happy for her. So happy that her cherished wish finally came true. I hope she will be in our lives for a long time and will be able to fulfill her other dreams,” says Karen Rivkin, Bertha’s granddaughter.
