A couple of days ago in Guadalajara, Mexico, Wendy Chairez and her friends went out for a walk and a meal.
But suddenly she noticed something that touched her heart.
It was raining. And on the rainy and wet road there was an exhausted rat. She got stuck in the metal grating of a storm drain and couldn’t get out.
“She tried her best to push off with her feet and get out, but she couldn’t. There was a cry for help in her small eyes,” says Wendy.
The girl admitted that all her life she was afraid of rats. However, at this point, she didn’t care. She just saw a defenseless creature that needed help. And she couldn’t get past. After all, this innocent creature just wanted to live.
Wendy told her friends that she had to help the rat. And that is exactly what she did.
The girl found a broom and tried to pull the rat out with it. However, she did not succeed.
And then she decided to cast aside all fears and pull out the rat with her own hands. And she succeeded.
The rat did not have a single hope that someone would decide to help her. But she was wrong. Wendy saved her life.
After all that had happened, the rat was weak, and Wendy decided to take her to the sidewalk.
Then the rat came to her senses and ran away to hide from the rain. Wendy was glad that the rat was now safe, and that was her best thanks, despite her tepid feelings about these creations.
Wendy says that her act does not encourage everyone to go and save the rats. But she believes that the meaning of life lies in love and respect for all living beings.
