When Sara Heller and her husband found out they were expecting a baby, they were overjoyed. They were excited to welcome this little miracle into their lives.
However, when Sara was only 24 weeks pregnant, doctors told her that her baby would be born with a facial deformity.
This news shocked the future parents, but it never shook their love for their child.
They were willing to do anything to offer him all the love, affection and support in the world.
The ultrasound showed that Brody had a bilateral cleft lip and palate.
Despite the difficulties, the couple were determined to keep the baby and shared pictures of Brody on social media to promote acceptance of his uniqueness and raise awareness of the challenges he would face.
One evening while they were having dinner at a restaurant, a waitress handed Sara a folded piece of paper.
Inside was a check for $1,000 and a message that read, “For the wonderful baby.”
This kind gesture from a stranger strengthened the couple’s trust in humanity.
When Brody’s surgery came around, the money was used to cover some of the costs.
The surgery was successful and Brody recovered well. The couple is pleased with the baby’s progress.
Brody’s story is an example of unconditional love, resilience and hope in the face of every challenge.”
