Tara Wood is the mother of several children. She never ceases to be amazed at how subtly babies are able to feel the world around them. So, a recent incident with her youngest daughter Nora struck the woman to the core.
Returning from school on the eve of her fourth birthday, the baby saw an old man on the opposite side of the road and said to her mother:
“I love old people. They walk slowly, and I walk slowly – I’m comfortable with them. They also have soft skin, just like me. And they will leave this world soon. Until that happens, I will love them!”
These words amused the woman a lot. But the next day was even more amazing.
After picking up Nora from school, the mother went to the supermarket with her to buy a birthday cake and other sweets.
Tara left Nora in the cart and went for a second to another row for the necessary products.
Suddenly, mother heard the joyful voice of her daughter, who said to someone: “Hello, grandpa! Today is my birthday!”
Tara wanted to apologize, but she saw that the person with whom her daughter spoke was only glad of the attention.
The elderly man smiled and replied, “Hello, young lady! And how old are you?”
The man and the girl were talking. It turned out that the elderly man’s name is Dan, and he is already 82 years old.
They chatted with each other as casually as if they were grandparent and granddaughter. Little Nora was so happy with her new friend that she even asked her mother to take a picture of them together.
Tara thanked Dan for being so nice to the girl, but he only replied: “No, no. Thank you so much for a wonderful meeting. This is my best day ever!”
Inspired by this event, Tara decided to share the story with her friends on Facebook. She posted a photo of Dan with Nora and wrote about what happened.
Imagine the surprise of the woman when it turned out that this was not the end!
One of the netizens recognized Dan as his neighbor. It turned out that the elderly man had recently lost his wife and felt completely broken and alone. And the conversation in the supermarket with Nora visibly cheered him up.
Then Tara found out Dan’s phone number and called him with an offer to meet Nora again. Of course, he gladly agreed!
For the sake of such a meeting, Dan even went to the hairdresser, after which he began to look 10 years younger.
Since then, the girl has become almost like a family for an elderly man. They see each other at least once a week. And Dan confessed to Tara that for the first time since his wife’s loss, he was in a good mood again.
For a lonely elderly man, meeting a little girl was a gift of fate! And Nora herself will learn a lot from her new friend.
