A loving Labrador from Chicago lives with her owner, who moves in a wheelchair, and her sister dog, who cannot hear.
The cheerful dog supports her family and helps her owner to do various jobs.
Dogs Lily and Kinley live with their owner Bridget Evans in Chicago.
Lily helps Evans with chores and also supports Kinley, a golden retriever with a hearing impairment.
Lily helps her wards navigate everyday life. The dog’s support allows the owner and the hearing-impaired dog to feel better.
Kinley is a bit shy and often feels vulnerable due to her deafness.
Lily helps the dog feel better. She can even call Kinley with signs and wake her up when the owner asks.
Golden Retriever’s deafness is not congenital.
When Kinley was about six months old, she suddenly lost her hearing – she did not hear any commands or other sounds.
Due to her hearing loss, the dog feels dejected, so Evans and Lily actively support the furry family member and do everything to make her life comfortable.
According to Bridget, Lily can easily fulfill the request and inform Kinley that the owner wants something.
“Lily will drop everything and go find her best friend. She wakes her up, usually with a touch of her nose, sometimes with a kiss, and Kinley wakes up immediately,” – Evans pointed out.
The woman also said that Kinley, despite her hearing loss, is a very intelligent and patient dog. According to the owner, the dog has taught her a lot.
“She taught me to train and think in a quiet world. She taught me how to use signs and light for communication. She taught me patience, perseverance and joy. I am grateful that she is in my life, and grateful that she is a great role model for Lily,” – Evans said.
