It was bittersweet and touching as their lifelong bond will never fade. For Matthew Perry, it was extraordinarily emotional. He almost started to cry. On HBO’s Friends special, he said: “If either of us ran into each other at a party or a social event after the show ended, that was the end of it.
‘That was the end of that night. I sat with that person all night and that was it. “I apologized to the people I was with, but they had to understand that they had met someone special for me. That’s how it worked out,” he added. ‘We weren’t equipped to deal with that. Matthew has always held a big place in Jennifer Aniston’s heart. She played a key role by trying to help him as much as she could, and in a 2004 interview with Diane Sawyer, Aniston broke down in tears when talking about the ‘idea of losing’ Matthew Perry.
‘He was suffering,’ Aniston said, referring to Perry’s struggle with addiction. ‘We didn’t know.
