Three years ago, 15-year-old Hannah Rountree lost her beloved cat.
A black and white pet named Spunky ran away while the whole family was on vacation.
They searched for him for more than one day, traveled all over the district, but could not find him.
When Spunky disappeared, Hannah was only 12 years old, but he remained in her heart forever – and the girl decided to devote all her free time to helping animals.
Once she was old enough, Hannah volunteered at a local shelter.
It was her second shift at the Saving Grace Animal Adoption Center and Hannah was hoping she could play with the cute kittens.
What she didn’t count on was meeting her long-lost cat. She found Spunky.
The girl immediately drew attention to an unusual black and white cat, which was sitting in a far cage.
She just couldn’t believe her eyes – but it was definitely him.
“Is this my cat? He looks so much like Spunky!”
The cat was recently taken to a shelter; he was not yet accustomed to the situation, and he had not yet begun to look for a new home.
But it seems that this was no longer necessary. A new – or rather, old – house was found. The shelter staff were also shocked by Hannah’s story – it seemed so incredible.
They needed to do a little research into how Spunky ended up in the shelter, and all the facts confirmed that it really was the same cat that disappeared three years ago.
The shelter staff said that Spunky was first brought to the shelter in the fall – he was found on the street, washed and sent from the shelter to good hands.
They called him Bear, and under this name he lived for six months.
But he did not stay long in the new house: the owners were looking for a mouser, and Spunky was too good-natured and lazy for this business, and he was returned to the shelter.
This failure turned out to be the biggest success of Spunky’s life.
Hannah was very excited to have Spunky back with her, in her arms, and overwhelmed by the lucky break that brought them together.
Hannah and her family welcomed Spunky as a lost family member.
Now he already showers in love and behaves as if he never left.
