9-year-old dog Taka survived a terrible fire – and now he helps those who also suffered from the fire.
In October 2018, the house where Taka lived with his owners caught fire.
Taka was trapped on the flaming porch and suffered burns and multiple injuries after the structure collapsed.
The dog managed to survive – he was helped not only by veterinarians, but also by “human” doctors.
He spent the next month and a half in the hospital, where veterinarian Crystal Lesley visited him every weekend.
When Taka was discharged, Crystal took him to her home – the previous owners could not give him proper medical care.
The rehabilitation was long and painful – the fire left deep scars on the dog’s body, he lost hair on his face and body
However, he still remained a cheerful dog who loves fun – and Crystal decided to make him a therapy dog.
Taka now takes part in rehabilitation programs for people with burns.
Taka himself also still needs rehabilitation – only recently he began to trust the new owner enough to come to her sofa to lie next to her.
The owner has a Facebook page on Taka’s difficult path and takes him to dog competitions, where he invariably becomes a star.
So, recently Taka took first place in Georgia and 20th in the world competition Pageant Dog World.
