The mother bear took 2 little cubs to swim across the lake, but underestimated the strength of the current and the coldness of the water.
Both cubs could not cope with the rapids. But by the will of circumstances at that moment a boat with fishermen appeared around the turn.
People, without thinking twice, decided to help.
This not the most common story took place in Karelia – the locals call it the “Land of Lakes”.
Brown bears here feel like real kings of the forest, they have no opponents in the wild.
Perhaps that is why the she-bear failed to correctly assess the strength of her cubs. She herself swam relatively easily across the wide lake, almost where the river flows into it.
But the same river swept the cubs aside. And they quickly began to lose strength in the icy water.
It was at this moment that the fishermen swam out from behind the turn.
The men quickly assessed the situation, swam up to the cubs, and took them out of the water with an ordinary fishing net.
They were already so tired that they completely calmly perceived what was happening.
The cubs had to be landed downstream so as not to disturb the bear once again. She quickly ran up to the cubs and together the whole family went into the forest.
And the fishermen remembered the meeting for a long time. It’s not every day that you save cubs from the river.
