All of us in childhood dreamed of becoming someone: someone – an astronaut, someone – a doctor, someone – a ballerina, but later, as a rule, we changed our minds.
9-year-old Noah Cantin has been true to his dream for the last 5 years – he wants to become a police officer.
One day, the boy was having breakfast with his mother in one of the Florida canteens, when he saw one of his idols at the table opposite.
Then the boy came up with a noble idea.
Noah decided to pay the bill of the law enforcement officer from his savings accumulated from the day he was born.
And on the receipt he wrote: “I want to be like you when I grow up. Thank you for your service!”
Noah then walked modestly over to Eddie Benitez’s table and handed him the receipt with a note.
Surprised, Benítez scanned the paper with his eyes, then abruptly stood up and shook the boy’s hand.
“It’s worth a lot to me,” he added. “It means I get up every morning and put on my police uniform for a reason. This means that I have to put in a lot of effort to be a good example for boys like you!”
Now, in order not to forget about the debt to the nine-year-old boy, Officer Benitez constantly carries this receipt with him.
And Noah, inspired by the meeting, became even more determined to become a policeman: “I want to catch bad guys and make the world a better place.”
As you can see, it is the example of the elders that influences children more than any words. And, if adults will honestly and conscientiously correspond to their high calling, there will be much less problematic and difficult teenagers.
