If Kate Winslet has today digested the immense fame that Titanic brought her, she still retains the bitter taste of the years which followed the release of the 1997 blockbuster.

“I felt like I had to look a certain way or embody a certain image.

And because the intrusion of the media was very important at that time, my life was quite unpleasant,” lamented the actress during a recent interview with Porter Magazine.

“Journalists always said: ‘After Titanic, you could have done anything and yet you chose to make small films,’” Kate Winslet continued.

“And I was like, ‘Yeah, of course I did! Because, guess what, my fame was horrible.’ »

Indeed, it took years, and even decades, for the actress, who was only 22 years old at the time of the release of James Cameron’s film, to manage to carve out the tailor-made career she dreamed of.

Now aged 48, Kate Winslet thrives in roles that suit her, often opting for independent productions.

Which does not prevent her from returning to big productions, since she was willing to reunite with James Cameron in the Avatar saga.

The star, however, recognizes a good side to all this: at 22, thanks to what Titanic brought her, she “was able to find an apartment”. And it’s not nothing.
