The personal tragedy of Michelle Williams – the mother of Heath Ledger’s only child – was transferred to the big screen and won high marks from film critics.

However, the actress refused a promising role, because she could not plunge into the experienced grief again.

Bradley told Entertainment Weekly that he began developing the script with Williams as his co-writer.

The film tells the story of a girl who lost a loved one, but wants to start living and loving again.

The director thought that the actress would play the grieving widow. But Michelle was never able to try on this role.

“When we were preparing to shoot the film, she realized that all this was still too close for her, and politely refused,” he said.

Ledger and Williams split in 2007, just months before we lost the legendary actor in January 2008.

The loss of a loved one was a real blow for Michelle, which she was able to put up with only a few years ago.

Michelle married theater director Thomas Cale in 2020.

“Now our life seems to be getting better. Heath’s passing has changed the way I see the world and the way I interact on a daily basis. It changed me as a mom. It has changed the kind of work I really want to do and has become a lens through which I see life. Everything is impermanent,” said the actress in an interview.
