At 13, the girl weighed as much as 100 kilograms. And, of course, every school day was the worst day for her.

She looked for solace in food, she gained even more weight.

The girl had no friends at school, she endured constant ridicule. The only consolations in this gloomy world for her were food and music.

However, the girl was able to completely change everything. When she turned 16, she realized that she needed to take her life into her own hands and began to lose weight.

She went on a strict diet and started exercising. Every evening she ran for 2 hours in a field near her home.

Joan realized that someone will always be dissatisfied with her, and therefore someone else’s opinion does not matter.

She continued to take care of her appearance. She updated her wardrobe, cut her hair, started to make up, continued to play sports… And later she began to sign up for beauty contests.

In 2016, she won the Miss Selangor pageant. Selangor is the Malaysian state where Joana grew up.

Thanks to her story, the girl became the most famous winner of this competition.

In 2018, she won 2nd place in the Miss India pageant.
